The Wiggles were formed in 1991, a result of an inspiring idea from the mind of Anthony Field. Anthony, Greg and Murray Cook were studying to become early childhood teachers at Sydney's Macquarie University. Field and Cook were two years ahead of Page in the course when he began his studies in 1990. At the end of his first year of study, Page was approached by Field (who he knew from working for Field's Australian chart-topping pop band, The Cockroaches) to write and sing some songs for a demo album of songs for children.
The concept was very simple - have some fun using what they had learned at University about teaching children, combined with their love for pop and rock 'n' roll music. The result was The Wiggles.
